Tropical countries: I am a sucker for them.
I have travelled a fair amount, and I have visited some great cities. I love architecture and museums and castles and ruins and central markets and even double-decker bus tours but there is nothing that leaves me in awe like a rainy day in the tropics.

When the rain hits you it is never light or preannounced. The gods open the tap of the warm water and you cannot do anything else but admiring its majesty, enjoying the warm drops all over your skin.

Streets turn into rivers, and the whole city stops for a few minutes and stranger become friends…
Thiago was admiring the rain from the porch of his house. I was taking photos in the rain, absolutely drenched, when I hear “Orale, pinche loca, ven por acà!”

Which translated is - hey, you damn crazy, come over here - while offering shelter under his porch.
Regardless of how much I was enjoying the rain, it was a more than welcome offer.

He kindly offered me a towel to get myself dry and a tasteful cup of coffee, while scolding me for my disregard towards my own health.

He was intrigued by my reasons for taking photos in the rain, I was interested in the reason why he invited a perfect stranger in his own house.

That was when Thiago while laughing said: “We are all the same if we stand in the rain, I get sick, you get sick.
I treat others like I would like to be treated regardless of who they are… And if I was walking in your shoes, I definitely would like to get them dry!”

The rain stopped and we parted ways but this heartwarming feeling will be not washed away.
