Florence, Italy
Anyone who knows Italian is able to tell you how beautiful and particular the Tuscan accent is.
This parlance brings with it so much history.
The famous Florentine accent is the master, along with it comes the magnificence of Dante Alighieri and his Divine Comedy and the fame of Benigni and his Oscar movies.
It is with this accent that I hear someone scolding me.
“ Ma i’che tu fai? Che se’ grulla?"
That’s how I met Matteo. A local painter not exactly happy that I just took a picture of him and his work.
Rightly jealous of his beautiful creation, he explains to me that he earns exclusively thanks to his art and I too would get angry if I were walking in his shoes. He studies years to gain his skills and that is how he makes a living.
Me, having followed the same artistic path, I perfectly understanding his point of view, I listen to his story and discover that he has always lived in Florence, he was inspired by his fellow countrymen since he was a child: Leonardo, Michelangelo, Botticelli, Caravaggio.
Clearly, as there are no more tycoons such as the De’ Medici family, for artists, it is hard to make a living, as well as frustrating.
As I am passionate about the history of art as well, I listen to his vast knowledge with pleasure and fascination.
I feel guilty about the photo I just took and I explain my goal. I want is to take pictures that bring people to know the world, to make the cultural and artistic differences of each land known, to show that we only fear what we do not know or do not fully understand, because, in the end, we are all equal. With the same fears the same emotions and the same needs
"Eh indeed, I also have the same need to eat tonight, so give me € 10 and keep the painting"
You're right Matteo, here you go € 10.
